I Don't know if anyone is still checking this blog, but this is my latest WIP. This piece is taking much longer than I expected, but it seems to be coming out alright. There's still a lot of work to do, especially on the stairs in the front. I think I'm going to add figures throughout the scene and some more details on the castle. The brushwork seems to be working pretty well now. The study of the mountain definitely helped a lot.
Yes, some people are still checking! I should show you how to set up google analytics so you can track views. Looking good. I like the cave wall just to the right of the buildings the best. It has a great variety of value, hue, and marks. Other parts look like they could still use some more randomness. Maybe making a random layer with all of the others turned off and then mix it in. You may also want to get rid of the outlines on the buildings to help it blend with the surrounding rock more.
